Quiet power. Crystal clear water.
Hygiene & water purity
Exceptional float experiences depend on more than silence and space — they rely on absolute confidence in water hygiene. Ocean Float Rooms are engineered with commercial-grade, twin, or multi-stage water hygiene systems designed to deliver consistently clean, clear float water between every session, without disrupting the calm of the float environment.
Every hygiene system is efficiently designed and integrated into the float room, operating automatically and quietly behind the scenes. The result is a float solution that meets — and often exceeds — commercial pool and spa standards, while remaining effortless for operators to manage and reassuring for clients to experience.
Automatic hygiene,
built into every float
Ocean Float Rooms operate with standard automated float cycles, with cleaning cycles running automatically between sessions. After every client, the system circulates and filters the float solution multiple times during the shower and dressing period before the next session begins.
A powerful magnetic-drive pump and fine micron filtration remove particulates, while integrated sterilisation systems neutralise bacteria and oxidise contaminants — all without audible disturbance or manual intervention.
Through the Smart Float® control system, centre owners can monitor, schedule, and refine both float and cleaning cycles for complete operational control.
The result is consistent, high-level hygiene standards throughout the day. No reliance on operator timing. No manual guesswork. Just a calm, uninterrupted float suite environment.
*Number of cleaning cycles can be increased or decreased as desired.
Commercial-grade hygiene, not adapted spa systems
Unlike adapted spa or pool setups, Ocean Float Rooms are engineered from the outset as commercial float environments. The hygiene system is designed to handle high salinity, frequent use, and the unique demands of flotation therapy.
This includes:
- Controlled circulation rates tailored to float room volumes
- Effective filtration suitable for dense Epsom salt solutions
- Automated dosing systems that eliminate the need for handling sanitation products
The result is a robust, predictable hygiene process that supports both operational efficiency and long-term water quality.
Designed for different markets & requirements
Ocean Float Rooms are supplied with different hygiene configurations depending on regional regulations and client preferences. Every system is built on the same core principles of automation, reliability, and commercial performance, with enhanced options available for regions and centres requiring exceptional levels of water purity.
Proven. Automatic. Trusted.
Standard commercial
hygiene system
Our standard hygiene configuration uses automated in-line dosing combined with fine filtration and controlled circulation to maintain clean, hygienic float water between every session — without the need for manual handling sanitation products.
This system has been trusted in commercial float environments for decades and continues to meet regulatory and operational requirements across the UK and selected international markets. It provides consistent hygiene performance while keeping daily operation simple and predictable for centre owners.
Key benefits include:
- Fully automated sanitation cycles
- Decades of proven water hygiene
- High-level performance in busy commercial settings
Advanced sterilisation. Enhanced hygiene.
Quantum Spa
For centres seeking the highest possible level of water purity, Quantum Spa elevates hygiene performance beyond conventional approaches. This advanced system combines advanced Quantum sterilisation technology with regulated peroxide dosing to deliver visibly sparkling water and consistently exceptional high hygiene standards throughout the day.
Quantum Spa is supplied as standard in Europe and the USA and is available as an enhanced option in centres or other regions where the highest level of sanitation is desired or required. It is designed for operators who want maximum clarity, enhanced client reassurance, and a hygiene system that performs to the highest commercial level.
Benefits of Quantum Spa include:
- Exceptional water clarity
- Advanced sterilisation performance
- Enhanced client confidence and perception
Built in.
Not bolted on.
Every Ocean Float Room is designed as a complete system — where hygiene, comfort, and experience work together seamlessly. Whether configured with our standard commercial hygiene system or specified with Quantum Spa purity, the outcome is the same: consistent cleanliness, exceptional water quality, and complete peace of mind.
Hygiene is not an add-on. It is engineered into the structure, systems, and daily operation of the room itself. For operators, that means predictable, automated hygiene routines. No manual guesswork. No complex training burden. Just reliable performance, day after day. For clients, it means stepping into clean, crystal-clear water every single session. It means confidence without explanation. It means a calm, uninterrupted experience from the moment the door closes.
Hygiene FAQs
How Ocean Float Rooms deliver consistent hygiene and water clarity.
How do float rooms stay clean between float sessions?
Bather load in float room is very low compared to a swimming pool or a Spa/Jacuzzi (See our bather load FAQ below). The sheer concentration of Epsom salts in the water also acts as a powerful inhibitor. Combined, this makes it much easier to sanitise and keep the solution contaminant free.
Both our high-powered sanitation systems use automated in-line dosing combined with fine filtration and multiple circulations of the water after each session.
Although rarely necessary, the solution is also “shocked” daily with an oxygen-based treatment in our drive to achieve the highest sanitation standards possible.
Is the hygiene system fully automatic?
Yes. Ocean Float Rooms are engineered with fully automated hygiene cycles that operate between every float. Filtration, circulation and, with our Quantum Spa system, dosing processes, are controlled as part of the room’s “smart float” integrated system, reducing the need for manual intervention and eliminating routine handling of sanitation products.
This ensures consistent hygiene standards throughout the day while simplifying daily operation for centre owners.
As “good practice” the automatic filtration can be programmed to run once or more through the night, or on days when the centre is closed.
Do Ocean Float Rooms use chemical sanitisation?
In countries or regions which require a biocide sanitiser, we maintain a level of bromine of 1-2 ppm in the solution. Bromine is generally considered to be more suitable for sensitive skin than chlorine, while the level we maintain in the float room is typically half that recommended in a swimming pool.
Enhanced configurations, such as Quantum Spa, combine advanced sterilisation technology with regulated peroxide dosing of 50-100 PPM, to achieve exceptionally high levels of water clarity and hygiene performance.
With both systems, Ocean Float Rooms uses controlled, automated dosing as part of their overall sanitation processes. The systems are designed so operators do not need to manually handle sanitation products during daily use.
What is the difference between the standard hygiene system and Quantum Spa?
Our standard commercial hygiene system provides reliable, automated sanitation suitable for busy float centres and is trusted across multiple international markets.
Quantum Spa is an enhanced configuration designed for operators who want the highest possible level of water clarity and sterilisation performance. It combines advanced sterilisation technology with peroxide dosing and is supplied as standard in Europe and the USA, with availability in other regions upon request.
Both systems are fully integrated into the float room’s design and engineered for commercial reliability.
Why is bather load lower and easier to manage in a float room?
Use of a float Room is completely structured and controlled resulting in a very predictable, low level bather load that is easy to anticipate and manage.
- Only 1 or 2 clients at a time use the float room.
- Procedure dictates that clients go to the toilet and shower first.
- The client is typically naked when floating and therefore they don’t carry the high bacteria content typical of swim wear.
- Clients lay on their back with their face and 50% of the body above the water line.
- Clients relax calmly on the surface of the water in order to achieve deep relaxation, the basis of the therapy: there is no vigorous movement or exercise to increase bather load.
- Unlike spas, the solution is skin temperature to reduce sensory stimulation, which minimises fluid loss (sweating) through the skin and therefore bather load.
- Client can’t float with open wounds as the salt makes it unbearable (surface scratches are coated with petroleum jelly)
How does float room hygiene compare to pools or spas?
Ocean Float Rooms are engineered to meet — and often exceed — commercial pool and spa hygiene standards. This is due to a predictable, low level bather load combined with a repeatable hygiene process specifically designed for high-salinity float environments and frequent use.
Automated between-session filtration and sterilisation ensure consistent water quality throughout the day while maintaining the calm, uninterrupted atmosphere essential to the float experience.
