7 Years On: 2025 Update

It’s been seven years since Blissful Relaxation Float Centre teamed up with Ocean Float Rooms to create a welcoming and top-notch floatation experience for their customers. We caught up with Nick to see how things have been going over the years and what they’ve learned along the way.

How has business been going over the years and now?

We have been operating for almost 7 years and the center has been a success. There were a couple of years, one being during Covid, when sales were not increasing. I would say that with any business there are normal ups and downs. November 2024 and December 2024 have been our biggest sales months since we opened June 1st, 2018!

How well are you doing with repeat business?

We have many members that have kept their memberships with us since we opened our doors. We think membership sales are very key to having a healthy float business. We also have many repeat customers that don’t really want the monthly commitment of a membership but end up spending more money with us a la cart.

How are the rooms holding up?

Our float rooms have held up impressively over the years. The craftsmanship of the Ocean Float rooms has proven excellent, the only minor issue being a fiberglass crack on the side of one door after six years of use. A simple patch fixed it, although Chris would have gladly helped me get a new replacement door if I had wanted to go that route.

I would say that overall, we have had very minimal problems keeping our float tanks up and going online. When a problem arises Chris, Eileen, and the team at Ocean Float rooms spring into action as soon as possible to try to resolve the issue promptly. They understand keeping the float rooms up and running with minimal downtime is of critical importance to build and grow a successful float business.

What you have learned over the years that could be helpful to people on how to run a float business?

Making the decision to go with 4 King Sized, or Double Ocean Float rooms was one of the best decisions we made in the beginning. We don’t have to worry about people getting the right room or having a preference of one room over another. Having them all big, roomie, and matching is a hit for our clientele, not to mention the extra revenue bonus we get when we do double floats.

Customer service should be top notch with as much interaction as possible. Don’t make a video for them to watch showing them about floating. You should personally show and teach them. This is a service business. The Ocean Float Rooms will do most of the heavy lifting by keeping you running clean efficient float rooms while you put in the work to provide that next level customer experience to bring it home for growth and continued success.
What you have learned about yourself. Owning a small business challenges me almost every day. I may need to be an electrician, a plumber, and a groundskeeper all in the same day.

How you have changed?

I definitely let things roll off my back a lot easier now. We just take life one day at a time and enjoy the present while keeping an eye out for the future.
